Important Message Regarding Powered Vehicle and E-Bikes

6/11/2024

We would like to address a matter of concern regarding the usage of e-bikes, powered vehicles, within our community parks and trails.
It has come to our attention that there has been an increase in the presence of e-bikes, powered vehicles, in these areas, despite our existing policies prohibiting their use. As a reminder, the use of e-bikes in parks and on trails is strictly prohibited for several reasons, including safety concerns and potential damage to the environment.
E-bikes, due to their higher speeds and power-assisted nature, pose a significant risk to the safety of pedestrians, other cyclists, and wildlife within our parks and trails. The increased speed and power can lead to accidents and collisions, endangering both riders and others enjoying these communal spaces.
Additionally, the delicate ecosystem of our parks and trails can be disrupted by the use of e-bikes, potentially causing erosion and damage to vegetation. Preserving the natural beauty of these areas is paramount to maintaining the quality of life within our community.

We are requesting all members to adhere to our existing policies regarding e-bike usage and refrain from riding them in parks and on trails. Your cooperation ensures the safety and enjoyment of all residents and visitors alike.

Also, The City, Temecula Valley Unified School District, and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, have compiled essential information about common vehicle code violations and required equipment for class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes. It's important to note that any e-bike that exceeds 28 MPH is NOT street legal. To ensure the safety of riders and pedestrians navigating our sidewalks and streets, please take the time to review this information thoroughly.
