The plan is to first spray and kill the turf in the areas being removed in the recreation center parking lot and closest to the pool entry. The contractor will then retrofit the irrigation system, install new plant material and finalize the sections by installing mulch between the plants. The project will continue south toward the large turf area and finish with a new decomposed granite walking path making the existing sidewalk to the end of the park a complete loop back to the parking lot.
The Board’s intention with the project is to maintain the overall look and feel of the Recreation center we’re all used to, while reducing water usage and creating more usable space for members.
We respectfully ask that you keep away from the construction areas, which will be marked with signage and caution tape for the safety of your family and pets. Pesticides will be used to eradicate the turf in all renovation areas to prevent re-growth.
The benefits of this project are substantial, especially as it relates to the Association’s water usage and efficiency. In the summer months, the Association is typically seeing Inefficient/Tier 3 and Wasteful/Tier 4 water charges due to increased water regulations and the acres of turf the Association keeps green all year. The project size and scope is also made possible for a grant by MWD which is $2.00 for every square foot of turf removed, we are benefiting from a substantial short-term renovation and long-term utility cost savings.
